Kansas native Kelley Hunt is a rarity and a challenge to the music industry's penchant for easy artist definitions. This singer/songwriter makes music with it's righteous roots intact that also crosses boundaries. Hunt's music is influenced by blues, roots and gospel traditions with a refreshing originality.
In collaboration with the rest of the quartet, James Albright (bass), Allena Ross (vocals) and Brandon Draper (percussion), Hunt (vocals, piano & guitar) delivers an energetic and uplifting performance to brighten your summer.
Details: In this 90 minute workshop, Kelley Hunt will explore the basics of songwriting, including how to craft great lyrics, the A to Z's of what makes a song work, writing from prompts, tips on how to collaborate with other songwriters, melding music and lyrics and a brief exploration of how applying different instrumental voices to a song changes the impression it makes. You will give feedback and encouragement to other participants. There will be specific examples from established songwriters to help inspire your creativity.
Please bring your own paper and pen or pencil. Do NOT bring instruments.
