| How to Build a Large Canvas | 16+ | Robert Hubbard | Wednesdays | Sept 13 - Sept 27 | 6:00 - 8:30 pm | $135 | This class will take the student on a journey on how to build and stretch a 36" x 24"canvas. First, the student will build their own stretcher, as the old masters did before stretched canvases were mass-produced. Then, students will learn proper canvas stretching technique and work in groups to stretch canvas over the stretchers they have built. | Monotype Printing with Stencils | 14+ | Mary Gordon McFall | Tuesdays | Sept 12 - Oct 24 | 6:00 - 8:00 pm | $160 | Monotype/monoprint is a printmaking process in which the ink is rolled onto a slab, manipulated in some way, then transferred to paper using the pressure of a press, or baren to create unique, one-off prints. Monoprinting with stencils can allow for interesting textures, colors and residual effects! Demonstrations will include various inking methods, layering, collage, and how to safely & successfully print using the press. Most of class time will be set aside for play and experimentation.
