Theatre 2020 at MAC

Thanks for being part of Manhattan Arts Center's 2020 Theatre Season.

Things are a bit different this year - but one thing remains constant: Our mission to bring Arts to All.

On and off stage you'll find community members - family, friends, neighbors, co-workers - bringing you great theatre. This is your chance to follow along and share in the fun.

Our 2020 Theatre Season includes:

Arsenic & Old Lace (dark comedy)
by Joseph Kesselring

Sep 25-27, Oct 2-4
Directed by Penny Cullers
Mortimer Brewster is descended from Mayflower settlers and the generations have been mostly full of maniacs. Hoping to marry the girl next door, he works to rein in the antics of his two spinster aunts (who have taken to poisoning their resident boarders with elderberry wine); a cousin who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt (and is digging the Panama Canal in the cellar); and a murderous brother (who’s had plastic surgery to conceal his identity). Kansas playwright Joseph Kesselring penned this, his most successful play, in 1939 and it’s been delighting audiences since.

The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge (comedy)
by Mark Brown

Dec 4-6, Dec 11-13
Directed by Kim Riley
The Trial of the Century! A year after his miraculous transformation, Ebenezer is back to his old ways and suing Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future for breaking and entering, kidnapping, slander, pain and suffering, attempted murder, and the intentional infliction of emotional distress. The ghosts employ a charismatic barrister while Scrooge represents himself. A surprising confession on the witness stand turns the tide of the trial and a verdict is rendered with surprising consequences.
Auditions: Oct 18 & 19, 7-9pm (Sun/Mon)

As You Like It (comedy)
by William Shakespeare
Feb 19-21, Feb 26-28
Directed by Trevor Comstock
Shakespeare’s comedic romance follows the adventures of Rosalind as she flees her uncle's court accompanied by her cousin Celia. Love, courtship, and mistaken identities abound as the pair encounter friends and family in the Forest of Arden. Will true love prevail in the forest?
Auditions: Jan 10 & 11, 7-9pm (Sun/Mon)

Spring Musical (musical)
If it is safe to do so, we’ll stage a spring musical! Keep an eye out for more information.
