Looking to bolster your creativity when you're stuck at home? Here are some ideas:
  • Take a "museum tour" of the art in your home. Tell stories about each picture, where it came from, why you have it, what makes it special. Then maybe make some new pieces!
  • Take inventory of your art and think about rearranging things for a fresh look.
  • As you take a walk (indoors or out), be inspired by the colors, patterns, and more that you see. Document them with photos and create a collage either real or digital.
  • Listen to an audio book, podcast, or concert you've never tried.
  • Try a new recipe.
  • Try an art app, like a coloring app or the free draw on your phone or tablet.
  • Start a journal.
  • Begin writing that novel!
  • Take time to practice something you're already comfortable with (the ease that ensues often leads to new ideas!)

Here is a list of online resources available to use at home. We look forward to welcoming you back to MAC classes soon!

Education in the Arts

The Manhattan Arts Center (MAC) offers art education to adults and children of all ages and incomes. Throughout the year there are a variety of art and clay classes for adults. We also have educational opportunities for children in theatre, art, ceramics, and music. In the summer, we offer our arts-based day camp "Camp MAC." We also have open studios for artists to work and learn together, including Watercolor Studio, Painting Studio, Clay Studio, and Film Studio.

Nurturing Creative Abilities

Our motto is Arts For All. We believe that arts education enhances the lives of all who participate. With this in mind, we will continue to nurture the creative abilities of Manhattan's children, for they are the future artists, playwrights, actors, singers, and story tellers.
